LUN Restrictions with Flare 4.30 and Dart 6.0.40

I have the following environment:

  • NS120
  • FLARE Revision 4.30.000.5.517
  • DART Revision 6.0.40-8

I currently have a single pool, with both 15k FC and 7.2k SATA drives, and have been using this pool for black based access.  We currently have a requirement for the file-server component, and i successfully created my CIFS server, but am having an issue presently LUNS to the NS.

Am I able to perform the following with my current version:

  1. Create a THICK lun from a Raid POOL?
  2. Create a THIN lun from a Raid POOL that contains different spindle disks (15k FC and 7,2k SATA)?
  3. Remove disk from a Raid POOL, even if it contains binded LUNS?

Thanks,

FOL

Hi,

the recommendation for that code and CX4 is to use traditional raidgroups for NAS usage.

If you don’t have the space you should be able to use thick pool LUNs.

Please see the best practices for performance – i.e. don’t just create a single LUN – create in multiples of 4 and make sure your AVM profile stripes them.

Using thin LUNs for NAS is not recommended.

Removing disks or raidgroups from a pool is not possible
