Joining a Celerra G8 CIFS server to an Open LDAP

Is it possible to join a Celerra G8 CIFS server to an Open LDAP service like it was an Active Directory Domain?

No

Any Windows CIFS server need a domain controller and not just a directory service.

Wouldn't make sense since a standard Windows client cannot authenticate with just OpenLDAP.

DC could be a Samba 3 DC backed by LDAP though

TY Rainer.

Is there any way that the CIFS server authenticates user's access to their personal and departmental folders against an OPEN LDAP instead of Active Directory? Those final users are linux pc instead of windows pc.

Not without changing the Windows logon and authentification process

A Windows domain is more than just a directory service

Like I said – the other option is a Samba domain controller that in turn uses Open LDAP
