Please find the attachement for error. I doubt this error because of TCP/IP. Any help

in Data Protector, did you specify ip address of datamover, not the control station right ? Did you configure ndmp account on datamover as well ?

The port number is 10000, this is also mentioned in your error message.

hello Experts,
I have overcome that issue of not able to scan. I mentioned data mover IP and created a md5 user and it worked fine for me.
Now I can scan the slot as well as format the tape from tape drive. But when I am trying to test a backup from DP it is getting failed giving following error:
could not find suitable mount request slot for device GIBNAS-DRIVE3. But I checked the media is in GIBNAS-media pool created for this backup only.
Any idea how to resolve this?
Also from NASADMIN i getting scsi o/p as follows:
tape1 c96t0l0 tape HP Ultrium 3-SCSI G65W...My question is how to find this drive SCSI is defining to which drive on physical library drive?
tape2 c96t0l1 tape HP Ultrium 3-SCSI G65W
jbox1 c112t0l0 jbox HP MSL 6000 Series 0520 ...thsi is our libarary right?
ttape2 c96t0l0 tape HP Ultrium 3-SCSI G65W
tape3 c96t0l0 tape HP Ultrium 3-SCSI G65W

here what you can do. Use your robot and load one tape into a drive. Then on your celerra run
server_mt server_2 -f tape2 status
if it matches the drive that has the tape loaded in it you will see this:
# server_mt server_2 -f tape1 status
Device name: /dev/c32t0l0
Product Id: 03592J1A
Block size: 80
Block number: 0
if not you will see this:
# server_mt server_2 -f tape1 status
Device Not Ready
Device Not Ready
i know it's kind of trial and error but should work.

Hi Dynamox
Thanks for the reply. What will be the next action of plan if the drives detect the tape or if it not detect? I am sure Celerra will detect the tape because it can detect the drives so it can detect the tape also.
My main problem is to take a successfull backup, now how to do that?
Also if you can help me where I can find the logs message in Celerra to check while firing backup is it giving any error logs. Please share the full path.

i have not done NDMP backup with Data Protector, you may need to ask HP for assistance. On Celerra you can run "server_log server_X" (where X represents the datamover) to see the log.

Hi Dynamox,
Thanks for the reply.
One more query only. The file system NAS is showing is like:
R_drive
test
W_drive
Y_drivele
So while taking backup do i need to make the entry of the volume group as Y_drive or /Y_drive in DP?
Thanks for the support.

Is the file system mounted underneath a virtual datamover?

It is just showing under storage, File system mounted or File system tree as:
R_drive
test
W_drive
Y_drive

Hi Dynamox,
I created one NDMP user by using command as:
root@GIBNAS-MAIN ~]# /nas/sbin/server_user server_2 -add -md5 -passwd root123
Creating new user root123
User ID: md5
invalid numeric argument: md5
User ID: emcnas
invalid numeric argument: emcnas
User ID: root123
invalid numeric argument: root123
User ID: 107
Group ID:
Group ID:
Group ID: 47
Home directory: emcnas
Changing password for user root123
New passwd:
Retype new passwd:
So would like to know whether the user have Read & Write permission both or not because I am not able to write while restoration using DP.

The NDMP user is not restricted, so he does have write permission.
You are not trying to restore into a readonly Snap?
What do you mean with "I am not able to write while restoring .."? So you are able to restore your data?

Hi Peter,
You mean to say that NDMP userhave all permission.
I did a NDMP backup and it went successfully and then I tried to restore 1 file from that backup. I DP logs it shows completed successfully but it writes 0 byte. I doubt may be the NDMP user don't have write permission that's why he is not able to write while restoring.
Please find the restore session logs from DP in attachment.

Did you specify a in place restore (overwrite file) or out of place restore?
Whats in the server_log at that restore timeframe?

There is nothing wrong in the server_log.
