How to configure Serverprotect for EMC with CAVA without ActiveDirectory environment.

Hi.

We want to use "ServerProtect for EMC" with CAVA on VNX5300.

But VNX5300 can't make connection to CAVA.

We got packet log between VNX5300 and AntiVirusServer(CAVAServer) , in two conditions.

One of the condition is,when CIFS server on DataMover not joined ActiveDirectory(Local use)

the other one is , when CIFS server joined AdtiveDirectory.

The results are different.

Failed result (when CIFS server not joined ActiveDirectory)

1, VNX5300 make connection with port 110(sun rpc)  to CAVAServer.

(VNX throw packets and CAVA Server answered to the packets.)

2, the answer packet from CAVA server with port 110 includes "PROGRAM_NOT_AVAILABLE"

3, as a result , VNX5300 can't make connection to CAVA Server.

Success result (when CIFS server joined ActiveDirectory)

1, VNX5300 make connection with port 135(MS rpc) to CAVAServer.

2, the answer packet from CAVA server with port 135 includes information of CAVA

3, as a result , VNX5300 make connection to CAVA Server.

I guess CAVA not supported Sunrpc , We have to use MSrpc.

To use MSrpc , we have to make CIFSserver on Datamover join any ActiveDirectory.

But , we are not plannning making DomainController on the system.

( when get packet log , we create temporary DomainController.)

So , we want to use VNX without joinning ActiveDirectory.

Anyone have information ? Please Help Us.

Hello

CAVA is only used to scan the CIFS servers. You can create a standalone cifs server and still use cava if you don't want to join the cifs server to the domain. You can refer to the document on CIFS on powerlink to create domain joined cifs server and standalone cifs server.

Please refer to the below mentioned link on powerlink.
