EMCOPY question
We are trying to migrate CIFS from Celerra to Tegile CIFS ...and I'm planning of using emcopy for doing that, can emcopy move the stubbed files of sourceone?

Balaji

I have done Migration from a VNX to VNX and in that case the Stub files were moved as it is, we had enabled Dedup for both the file Systems (Source and Target).
Have you enabled Dedup on the Primary File System or are you archiving it to FMA?

Anand.

I am not sure which stubs he is talking about.
If it is VNX/Celerra FilerMover stubs – they are a feature of the VNX file system
Other file systems implement stubs very differently or not at all
You cannot just simply copy them to a non-VNX/Celerra system and expect them to work

Hello Anand/Rainer,
Thanks for the reply..Anand we don't have dedupe enabled nor archiving to FMA
Rainer the stubs belong to Source one after the unused files are archived to a secondary filesystem, so was concerned if we can move there stubs using emcopy to a non emc CIFS.

Then I guess it is a question for SourceOne how their stubs can be migrated.
Or a question for Tegile – typically you ask the vendor you are migrating to for migration guidance.
If they are FileMover stubs (indication is that you have configured fs_dshm) then my previous comment still applies
