Please let me know the recommended Data mover uptime(When it is recommended to reboot DM, In term of uptime).

you don't reboot Celerra just to reboot, you are either changing parameters that require datamover reboot or doing DART upgrade. From time to time Celerra will panic and reboot on its own.

same applies to Control Station, the only time it gets rebooted when you are upgrading DART (which also upgrades code on the Control Station)

It means uptime does't matter for data mover. so what about control station.

DataMovers should not be bounced w/o a clear reason. I have customers with 3 years uptime.

Back in the day (way back, NAS code 5.3 and earlier) there was a problem with Java memory leak on a control station where we used to recommend rebooting control station every month. But AFASK we are long passed that.

So, again, unless there is a clear reason -- no NAS components should be rebooted.

Best regards,

Well, if you didnt upgrade your clients or network since the last VNX OS update ☺

Otherwise it really makes sense to run current software.

Outstanding ..i can see how the call to support would go.

Emc support : what dart version are you running?

Customer : 5.5.3

Emc support : everything that is wrong with your celerra is due to the code you are running. Ohh its raining in your city..thats because of the code too. Upgrade and call us back.
