CIFS share and NFS export question

Hello Everyone,

I am still kind of new to Celerra, Couple of months ago I created CIFS shares and NFS export to couple of Servers. Is there a way to assign access to those share just to specific user. For example if I have a CIFS share "XYZ", can only specific user can access(Read/Write) the shares. Please let me know, as I have very less idea about Celerra.

Thank You

For NFS exports you just specify it by host (name, IP or netmask) using the regular NFS export access option

Restricting NFS access per user is not possible with the NFS protocol – the best you can do is restrict per host and then use the NFS/Unix permissions to restrict user rights

Hey Dynamox,

thanks for the information, but i still need help. How do I do that. How do I set permissions for shares for particular users from Celerra Manager or is it I have to do from CIFS servers.

And What about NFS exports. Is there a way only specify users can access it.

Thank You

Rama

With CIFS shares you can use either share permissions or NTFS permission to specify who has access to the share. It’s not different from your typical Windows server.

You cant set share ACLs from Celerra Manager or Celerra CLI – you need to use Windows tools for this

Just open a MMC, add the regular shared folders plugin and connect to the Celerra CIFS server
