Celerra Rep V2

I'm replicating a 12TB file system fs1_copy to DR Array and the full copy is in progress. I have a situation now to stop the replication for a while (4-5) hours and restart it again. My question is.

Can I stop the replication while the full sync is in progress?

Will I be able to unmount source file system fs1_copy and rename it as fs1 and restart replication from where it left off with out syncing from the beginning?

I have also noticed that while fs1_copy of source is getting auto extended, the DR side fs_copy file system is not getting auto extended. I believe it will get auto extended once the full sync is complete. Is that correct?

Thanks in advance.

Replicator manual in powerlink talks about stoping replication in general and not specific to full copy stop. I have noticed that during the first sull sync the destination file system does not xtend and it will auto extend to smilar size of source at the very end of first full copy.

I did a stop of replicaiton while it was on full copy sync and this is what I got on console.

[nasadmin@ns01cs0 ~]$ nas_replicate -stop fs1_copy_rep -mode both

75% completed

75% completed

75% completed

75% completed

(repeats)

The task was still running even after 30 minutes and I had to call EMC support. Tried to kill the replication process and the task got stuck in DM memory and had to reboot DM. After reboot, rep session was in error, did a stop, try to restart again, did not work. Finally with lot of troubleshooting and rebooting of DMs on DR side, replication session was started but it is doing a full sync again.

You should have a look at the replicator manual on powerlink and it might answer all your questions. But as far as i know after the full copy the destination fs will automatically extend and will always do so when the source extends. I believe this is a feature of V2

If you rename the fs etc i think you will have to setup the replication from the start again and do a full copy but i would check the maunal just to be sure
