Celerra NX4 Upgrade
Unisphere Service Manager has been telling me for a while that an upgrade is available from my current version of 6.0.41.3 to 6.0.70.4. I finally have a chance next week to perform this upgrade but this will be the first time I've done any type of upgrade to an EMC product so wanted to ask first if there is anything I need to look out for, check beforehand, have ready etc or is it just a case of pointing USM at the target and letting it perform the upgrade?
The Pre-Upgrade Health Check completes with 2 warnings ("Check all callhome files delivered" and "Check auto transfer status") and 1 information message ("Check if Blade parameters use EMC default values"). The 2 warnings are due to the NX4 not having internet access and the informational message is..well..information so I'm assuming that there's no great issue presented by these.
I am also able to prevent all access to the NX4 at the time of upgrade so rebooting is not an issue
Does anyone here have any experience of these upgrades or have any information that might help
Thanks

The warnings are as follows:-
Control Station: Check all callhome files delivered Warning HC_CS_18800050328: There are 89 undelivered Call Home incidents and 9 scheduled Call Home files left in the /nas/log/ConnectHome directory(es) Action : Check the /nas/log/connectemc/ConnectEMC log to ensure the connection is established correctly. To test your Callhome configuration, you can run /nas/sbin/nas_connecthome -test { -email_1 | -email_2 | -ftp_1 | -ftp_2 | -modem_1 | -modem_2 } command. View the RSC*.xml files under the /nas/log/ConnectHome directory(es) and inspect the CDATA content to find out and possibly resolve the problem. To remove the call home incidents and files, run the command "/nas/sbin/nas_connecthome - service clear". Otherwise escalate this issue through your support organization.
Control Station: Check auto transfer status Warning HC_CS_18800050420: Cannot establish connection to FTP server sftphost sftp.emc.com Action : Command "/nas/tools/automaticcollection -verifyftp" failed to connect to FTP connection. Check the configuration in /nas/site/automaticcollection.cfg file. For more information, search the Knowledgebase on Powerlink as follows: 1. Log in to http://powerlink.emc.com and go to Support > Knowledgebase Search> Support Solutions Search. 2. Use ID emc221733 to search.
As I said - this box has no internet access so I would expect these to fail. If I run "/nas/sbin/nas_connecthome - service clear" then one of these warnings will disappear so although there are 2 warnings they do not seem to be of high importance unless there's something else involved in Callhome or auto transfer that I'm not aware of
Thanks

Since you mentioned its your 1st time, i would recommend you to take EMC support help on this, since you have 2 warnings.

Mostly you can ignore warning level message since it tells you that there are some configurations don't match EMC recommendation. So, if you don't set nas_connecthome and FTP transport features, you can ignore and it won't stop upgrade process as well.
Here are related KBs.

If you would like EMC to upgrade your NX4, you better ask EMC support.
There are some options to upgrade your box such as onsite upgrade and using RCM(EMC engineer perform upgrade your box remotely).

In the end I decided to just go for it and the upgrade completed successfully in just over an hour. Funnily enough I read this post whilst the upgrade was in progress.
Thanks for responding
