Can ether channel support VSS technology on Cisco Switches?

Dear All,

VSS is a virtual switch, it is from 2 physical switches.

Can ether channel support VSS technology on Cisco Switches?

Thank you any input.

We have a pair cisco 6509s running in VSS and we regularly run etherchannels/trunks across both switches in VSS mode. We have a VG8 and a NS702 in that datacenter with no issues.

Hi Dennis,

As per the Celerra feature you are aware  that it supports Etherchannel. But from EMC perspective, there is no documented statement that  Cisco VSS technology is supported. We have not come across a customer with VSS. From the documentation of CISCO, it prompts us that Celerra can support VSS. But it is a disclaimer statement,

If you referring to using a vPC (virtual port channel) with Cisco Nexus, in which a single port channel group comprises two physical connections coming from independent Nexus switches, then I have seen this done with Celerra.  We configured the vPC and Celerra was set to LACP.  Came up just fine.  It mostly depends on the NX-OS code version you are running on the switches as well as the model of switches you are using as far as what you can do with vPC's.
