After I enabled Audit on Celerra the Audit tab on the folder is greyed out

Hi

I have enabled audit on our Celerra box using the following Steps:

1. Start the Celerra Management MMC.

2. Right-click Data Mover Management (Local) and select Connect to another Data Mover.

3. In the Name box, enter the CIFS server name, or select the CIFS server.

4. Click OK, and you will be managing the selected CIFS server.

and

1. Expand Data Mover Security Settings in the left navigation bar. Audit Policy (disabled) and User Rights Assignment appear.

2. Right-click Audit Policy (disabled), and select Enable auditing to enable the auditing feature. The nine auditing options appear on the right panel.

3. To audit file and directory objects, right-click Audit object access, and select Security. The Security Policy Setting dialog box appears as shown in Figure 2 on page 5.

4. Select Success or Failure or both, depending on what you want to audit.

In the windows Explorer :

1. In Windows Explorer, navigate to the file share called mfg, and open the folder called restricted, which contains the folder

2. Right-click Folder and select Properties.

3. Click the Security tab, and click Advanced. The Advanced Security Settings for Folder dialog box appears.

When I click on Audit tab I get a message saying you do not have permission to view the Audit settings even though I have full permission on the folder.

It works for all the CIFS Servers in VNX which are under same OU in AD, so I am sure it is not a GPO settings problem.

Now I have found a article emc170779 on powerlink which describes the same error.

I am not sure how to implement this solution.

Can someone help please?

Thanks in advance.

Make sure your account is in the local administrators group of the VNX CIFS server

Hi Rainer,

Thanks for the reply.

I am already in the local administrator group of the Celerra CIFS Server.
