Upgrade Dell MX 7000 chassis

Hello Dears,

We have two chassis MX 7000 in a group one Lead and other backup .

each chassis have computes , I/O modules MX 5108n and MX G610s .

Main task is upgrade baseline from 2.00.00 to 2.20.10

now install DRM and download package and create baseline .

Kindly tell me the sequence for upgrade all two chassis component , which we need upgrade hosts one by one ?

Thanks for your reply,

I understand this sequence but we have 2 chassis and need to upgrade compute by compute we enter the compute to maintenance mode and do upgrade and exit from maintenance mode and go to other compute .

what the method to use Catalog-Based Method or Phased Method ?

if use Phased Method start first by lead chassis and upgrade sequence (chassis , I/O modules Mx 5108 n , MX G610s , compute ) finish the lead chassis and go to backup chassis do same sequence ?

if i used Phased method current version 2.00.00 and target 2.20.10
we must upgrade first to 2.10.10. and then 2.20.10 ?

Hi,

I would recommend at first backup chassis configuration from OME-M. this approach which is you need to follow first upgrade to 2.10.10 then proceed to 2.20.10. This is required because jumping directly from 2.00.00 to 2.20.10 is not recommended.  You can create two baselines in OME-M (Baseline 1 → 2.10.10, Baseline 2 → 2.20.10). In your case, Phased Method is recommended since you have multi chasis.

  • Start with Lead chassis:
    • Upgrade CMM firmware to 2.10.10, then 2.20.10.
    • Upgrade I/O modules.
    • Upgrade compute sleds one by one (Maintenance Mode → Update → Exit).
  • Repeat same steps for Backup chassis.

Hi, as I can see you have a open ticket so I would recommend continue with your case owner agent who will help you about all things. This way you will avoid confusion.
