Why does Avamar stop support of AER and introduce cloud capable DDVE in opposite versions.

Why would EMC stop support of AER (avamar extended retention) on version 7.2 and then introduce DDVE (data domain virtual edition) that supports cloud replication and is only supported starting at 7.3.  How do they want you to be able to transition?  Is there a way people have begun moving to higher versions of AVE?  I've been told to start using ADMe but that doesn't seem to be supported in 7.2 either.  (have a case opened which said it was but after trying to configure it seems like it may be false information.)

ADMe is supported on Avamar 7.2.

It's implementation must be performed by Dell EMC PS so please engage your local EMC account team for assistance.

Support is there for break / fix related issues not install and deliverable related tasks.

An ADMe engagement takes about 2-3 days to configure, test and provide knowledge transfer to the customer.

Thanks Adam for your response.  I read a lot of the material you posted regarding ADMe and seems very powerful.  I understand the role of support and thats why I asked if ADMe was supported as a question and did not expect them to perform the install but only found ADMe mentioned in material for versions 7.3 and above.  As for my EMC account team i wish i knew who they were.  After a large purchase the team we had was migrated following the merger and haven't heard from them since.  I'll track them down and hopefully get some additional direction on introducing AMDe into our environment.

That's unfortunate and not/shouldn't be how things work.

If you have no luck contacting your Dell EMC account team please contact me directly and I'll try to find out.
