Speeding Up Data Transfer Times/Reduce Backup Run Time to Avamar+DD
Is there a way to disable the client-side dedup for an Avamar backup job? The bottleneck right now is our storage devices disks speeds.
There a set of servers that evacuate all data and write new data every day. The longest portion of each backup job on these servers is the cache updates. The thought would be if the clients can sent all data (do no processing, just passing the data to the Avamar+DD), the backup run time might be shorter. Then dedup would still happen at the DD level, but the CPUs and Memory usage would be significantly reduced at the client side.
Is this a valid thought process in terms of a way to decrease the backup job run time?

Client side de-duplication is an integral part of the Avamar backup process but if the clients have a completely new set of data to be backed up each day they won't be able to take advantage of the efficiencies enabled by the file or hash cache.
I would recommend speaking with a DellEMC solutions architect to take a closer look at the client and determine the best way to protect its data.
