Max number of LTO devices supported by Avamar Media Access Node
Hello I was wondering id someone could please help answer the question below. I looked in the EMC® Avamar® 7.2 Extended Retention User guide and it mentions LTO devices but not specifics/limitations. I know that Avamar Media Access Node supports only one (1) tape library, but it doesn't state the max number of tape devices (LTO, not tapes, I mean the quantity of LTO devcies that can write tapes) supported by Avamar MAN, what is the max number of devices supported in one robotic library with Avamar Media Access Node? is it required any license? the customer already has the avamar with media access node, they want to add LTO devices to write more tapes in parallel. Thanks, Gary Bastarache PreSales Support

Hello Gary,
Thanks for raising your question.
there is no maximum number of LTO devices. you can add any number you want.
as long as physical tape library support this number of LTO devices, that will be fine with Avamar Extended Retention.
for Example, if library support 5 LTO tape drives, then Avamar Extended Retention can use the 5 devices. (these devices has to be assigned to Avamar Extended Retention only. not to be shared)
