Latest status for multiple instance backups on Windows clients?
What is the latest "status" for multiple instance backups with Avamar on Windows clients?
Works but "unsupported"?
Also, relative to whatever that status is, I have seen some "documentation" on how to set up multiple client instances for Windows file system client backups, but it's just a very "sparse" Word document without any indication that it is related to a certain IT company we all know and love.
I have seen much more "official" looking documents for other multiple instance solutions, such as backing up EPIC databases on AIX servers - has any "official" Windows equivalent version for file systems been created yet?

It's not a supported configuration (which is why you'll not find it documented in any official Avamar guide).
For those rare cases where the dataset and client environment or configuration might benefit from multiple avatars running in parallel , as with any irregular configuration an RPQ would need to be sought from Product Management and Engineering.
As for loose documents found 'floating' around the Internet, these should not be relied on. Who wrote and tested them? What is their provenance?
When seeking an RPQ, if approved, make sure that Engineering provide you with the necessary instructions on how to achieve the objective.

To clarify - any documentation referenced was indeed found on Dell EMC associated sites. As for its "provenance", my use of the word "offical" simply means that it doesn't have any Dell EMC banners/logos/cataloging/etc. to indicate that it is anything other than something being provided for informational purposes.
(and none of the documents were written by Nigerian royalty, as far as I know)
Relative to it being unsupported, is there some specific reason why that could be presented? That would go a long way with customers who have difficulty understanding how we can perform multistream backups with Exchange and SQL but can't do so at the basic Windows file system level.
(I personally have an idea why - but I'm not a member of Dell EMC Product Management or Engineering, so my theory is only going to go so far)
Finally, I myself don't consider the use case of needing to back up 25 million files in less than the advertised 25 hours (post-seeding) something that I would term "rare" at this point in time, but that's just me.
