Cannot create "Windows SQL" dataset

Running Avamar 7.1.0-302.

When we create a new dataset we perform the folowing steps:

  1. Select "Enter Explicitly", then select "Windows SQL" in the Selected Plug-In Type drop-down. We leave "SQL" radio button selected.
  2. We are not using any "Exclusions" or "Inclusions".
  3. On the "Options" tab we select "Windows SQL" from the Select Plug-In Type drop-down and make appropriate selections for the backup type desired.
  4. Click "OK"

After completing the above steps, rather than seeing "Windows SQL" in the "Source Data" pane, we see what I assume is every type of filesystem backup and virtual disks: 13 items total, none of which are SQL database related. Editing the item and performing the steps again does not change anything.

Actually scheduling the job and letting it run results in a filesystem backup and no SQL database backups, so obviously the "Source Data" display is correct.

Has anyone run into something like this? Any suggestions on how to get just "Windows SQL" as the source data?

Any info/suggestions are appreciated.

This might sound ridiculous but it's a common problem -- don't forget to click the + button before you click OK. If there are other plug-ins listed in the dataset, select them and click the - button to remove them as well.

I'm glad it was something easy.

Happy to help!

Ah... something so simple!   Thanks so much for pointing out the obvious. That little tidbit was left out of the guide I was following.
