Backup order for VMware VMs on Avamar 6.1

I have an Avamar grid that is backing up my VMware virtual machines. On the Avamar system, I have 2 datasets defined with 2 different retention periods, and my VM clients that are backed up have been added to these datasets. Both datasets run off the same backup schedule. I also have 4 proxies deployed in my environment, allowing me to backup 4 VMs simultaneously.

I'm wondering if there is any way that I can define a backup priority, either within a data set, or shared across them, so certain VMs are backed up before others.

Knowing how to do this with regular clients using the Avamar Agent would also be useful, though not strictly necessary.

The only practical way to ensure one backup runs before another in current versions of the product is to adjust the schedules to ensure the higher priority backups start first.

Unfortunately it would still be random.

That's unfortunate.

In that case, what would happen if I create one dataset for my high-priority stuff, and then create a second one for normal priority items that starts only a short time (ie. 30 minutes) later, where not all the items in the first dataset would be completed before the second gets queued up.

Would the items in the first dataset get processed before the items in the second because they were queued first, or would it still be random as to which dataset it selects from when a proxy becomes available?
