Avamar vs Data Domains concurrent sessions

Hi,

I'm hoping that somebody would be able to explain some issues about max concurrent session in an Avamar/Data Domain combined setup.

In a ADS only setup I'm pretty sure that from v. 7.x and later its 72 session per node -1 for restore. Some article states 80 sessions per node (https://community.emc.com/docs/DOC-42143)

So basically in a 10 node grid the total concurrent session would be 10 x 72 -1 = 719 concurrent sessions.

I just attended the Avamar Integration and Performance course which is held in Avamar 7.2 and there the instructor told us that if you have a single node setup combined with Data Domain, its Avamar that limits the number of concurrent session. So even though the DD system like DD2500 can take up to 180 concurrent sessions you won't be able to send more than 72 -1 sessions concurrent.

Just today I read the below in the release notes for 7.3

Maximum number of concurrent connections for each storage node The maximum number of concurrent connections for each storage node on the Avamar server depends on the Avamar Data Store version. For Gen4 and Gen4s storage nodes, the maximum is 72. For Gen3 storage nodes and Avamar Virtual Edition systems, the maximum is 27.

For all implementations involving Avamar 7.1 and greater servers with Data Domain systems as their backend storage, the maximum number is 336 jobs and 500 Data Domain streams for both single and multi-node installations. Prior to release 7.1, the maximum number was 72 jobs per node.

So here it states that we can have up to 336 jobs for both single and multi-node installations. The Data Domain stream count is of course limited to what ever model DD system you have.

So my questions are

1. If you have a single node combined with Data Domain you can run 336 jobs to Avamar and Max 500 to Data Domian depending on the DD system model?

2. Let's say that you have a grid with 10 nodes. You then add a Data Domain system. Before adding the Data Domain system you had 719 concurrent session but now you only have 336 after adding the Data Domain system?
