Avamar rules - VMrules

We started using rules to sort thru which VMs are going to be backed up, however if I add more then a few datastore related rules it seems that all of the rules are been ignored. I'm unable to find any documents or articles about how those rules work, can I used wild cards? how to add longer datacenter paths and other items of that sort. anyone has a guide or anything of that sort? ....
