Avamar Extended Retention - recovery

We just tried to recover a directory from AER tape back to a client.  The directory didn't come back, just the files in the directory.

We can recover at directory or folder level, right?  What should we be doing differently?

Hello Kate,

I am afraid your question is not clear.

AER restore is in two parts, Import from tape then normal Avamar restore.

you are trying to Import exported backup or you already imported the data and doing avamar restore.

Restore limitations

Avamar Extended Retention does not support the following Avamar advanced restore

options:

  • Granular-level restore for:

-Exchange

-Microsoft Office SharePoint Server

-Hyper-v

  • File-level restore for VMware image-level backups
  • Change block-based restores for:

-Linux

-VMware image-level backups

  • Multi-stream restore for:

-Windows VSS Exchange

-Hyper-v

-Microsoft Office SharePoint Server

  • Sub-volume and Sub-database restores through the Avamar Management Console's

“browse for restore” feature
