Avamar Data Domain integration with NAT
Hi there ...
Does anybody use Data Domain with NAT config and Avamar ?
I am not to sure if this config is supported or not ....
There is some documents saying .... some limitation using NAT in Avamar ...( see below )
https://support.emc.com/docu69611_Avamar-7.3-Release-Notes.pdf?language=en_US
262212 — Known limitations with secure token authentication.
Secured token authentication does not work under the following conditions:
l The client machine is behind a Network Address Translation (NAT) device.
But Other doc saying .... it is supported but no detailed info if there is any limitation or condition would be applied or not .
From Avamar-7.1.0ProductReleaseNote
New Product Feature Summary
The Avamar 7.1 release adds the following new enhancements to the Avamar
*Avamar and Data Domain Integration
VLAN, NAT support
DD and Avamar with NAT is supported ? And there is limitation for some future?
Thanks !

Newer documentation generally supersedes older documentation.
However, in this case both of the statements are true. Support for NAT in Avamar / Data Domain integrated environments was implemented in Avamar 7.1. However, the new token-based authentication mechanism for Data Domain connections that was introduced in Avamar 7.3 does not support clients behind a NAT device. If you are planning to use Avamar 7.3 and Data Domain with NAT clients, token-based authentication for DD will need to be disabled.
