Avamar bare metal backup to local drive

Currently using Avamar to backup data to Avamar server for our estate of local file/print servers. 

Using windows server backup for bare metal / system state etc.. backing up to a local drive, I would like to use Avamar for the bare metal but have it backing up to a local drive instead of the Avamar server, is this possible ? All the documentation is telling me no but thought I would check.
