Avamar backup failure- Too many pre-existing snapshots will not permit a backup or restore

Can someone provide some guidance on how to permanently resolve a Avamar backup issue. The error is below. Thanks.

The KB that explains how to fix this is https://support.emc.com/kb/457868

By design there is a 32 snapshot limit. This limit is in vmware not Avamar.  If the backup is failing because you have more than 32 snapshots there is a good chance your not following VMWare best practices.  See https://kb.vmware.com/kb/1025279

If your seeing a lot of warnings about Too many extra snapshot files in my experience this is fairly common in some versions of vSphere 5.1 and 5.5.  In vSphere 6.0 and 6.5 its very rare.  I suspect it was a bug that was fixed by VMWare at some point but I don't know the specifics of when.
