PowerEdge R760 – Does iDRAC SMBus/I²C route to PCIe slot
I am working with a Dell PowerEdge R760 server using iDRAC9 and would like to confirm whether SMBus / I²C from the Baseboard BMC is routed to PCIe slots for communication with PCIe add-in cards.
Specifically:
- Does the R760 support BMC (iDRAC) SMBus/I²C access to PCIe slot
- If supported, are there specific PCIe slots, I²C bus numbers, or BIOS/iDRAC settings required?
- If not supported, is SMBus limited only to onboard components?
I attempted to use ipmitool via the default BMC interface, but it reports a low privilege level
trying IPMI tool over LAN interface also shows the same and enabling IPMI over LAN in IDRAC configuratons results in:
Please confirm whether this behavior is expected on the R760 platform.
