x17 R2, Intel Innovation Platform Framework Version error

I noticed recently a constantly scrolling Event Error about the Intel Dynamic Tuning Technology driver cannot load because the Intel Innovation Platform Framework is too old. Says its version 1.0.11903 and requires 1.0.11904 .

Checked Dell site and the latest IPF driver for the x17 R2 is from 11 Dec 2024 and its version 1.0.11903. Just searching around Dell site and I see they have 1.0.11904 for the m18 but cautious installing that on a x17 and about why they haven't released that for the x17 R2? Is it that Dell just hasn't got to it yet or are they no longer updating drivers for the x17 R2?

Any one else seen this message on their system and have a solution?

ESIF(1.0.11903.2253) TYPE: ERROR MODULE: IPF TIME 175279 ms

The Intel(R) Dynamic Tuning Technology (DTT) driver cannot load because the installed version of Intel(R) Innovation Platform Framework (IPF) that it depends on is too old.  IPF version installed is 1.0.11903.  The minimum IPF version required is 1.0.11904.

I found my solution, posting here in case it helps anyone.

Simple, just go to https://station-drivers.com/index.php/en/component/remository/Drivers/Intel/Dynamic-Tuning-Technology-(DTT)

and download the latest driver there, don't install the dynamic tuning driver, only install the IPF driver, and problem immediately went away!

You will need to contact a Dell Support and have them assist you with the issues. Click the Get Help Now icon to the right of this post to be connected to a support agent.

To receive assistance from Dell chat support, they need to verify the warranty status and ownership. Then you must troubleshoot with them.  Click the "Get Help Now" icon on the right to start a live chat session. If already out of warranty, click here for the Dell out of warranty offering.

I have been having this issue as well. Tech support is useless; they basically told me that I have to pay to have it serviced. This laptop isn't even 3 years old and these problems started after the March update for Windows 11. Glad I'm not the only one experiencing this issue though. Maybe if enough people flood their servers they'll finally come up with an answer for it.

@Foxtrot101 I also want to add that this problem did not occur until after redownloading Alienware Command Center. I believe there is a compatibility problem with the command center. Unless this problem is addressed by Dell, I may post on the Better Business Bureau as a formal complaint.

Were you ever able to get the problem fixed? I'm curious now, given the fact that Intel and Dell have been completely useless at this point.

Not yet. Kind of waiting to see if Dell releases a newer IPF driver as spending a large sum of money for support to just tell me to restore the laptop to factory isn't  a desired solution.

@jim gross That was my biggest concern. I don't wanna waste money just to be told what I already know. I did end up doing a factory restore and the problem persists. I've searched other forums and I've noticed other people are suffering from similar issues, so this is clearly not a single-computer issue. Hopefully they'll release something soon or they'll end up either losing a lot of costumers.

Checked Dell site and the latest IPF driver for the x17 R2 is from 11 Dec 2024 and its version 1.0.11903.
* Where do you see 1.0.11903?

The x17 R2 Drivers & Downloads page shows =

Intel Innovation Platform Framework Driver 2.2.10203.4, A02, 11 Dec 2024
(Intel-Innovation-Platform-Framework-Driver_965D0_WIN64_2.2.10203.4_A02.EXE)

The m18 R1 Drivers & Downloads page shows same =

Intel Innovation Platform Framework Driver 2.2.10203.4, A02, 11 Dec 2024
(Intel-Innovation-Platform-Framework-Driver_965D0_WIN64_2.2.10203.4_A02.EXE)

@DELL-ChrisM2  It look like I was wrong on the m18 it was the Alienware 18 Area-51... .   The File was the Intel-Innovation-Platform-Framework-Driver_H5G7M_WIN64_2.2.10204.8_A04.EXE  and if you extract the files and view the properties of the individual files on the details tab you can see that the those are a 1.0.11904 version.     But without Dells guidance or being ready to do a system reload I wouldn't install those.     Since it does seem like others are also seeing the same thing maybe Dell will update that for the older Alienware systems.

@DELL-ChrisM2 These drivers should've been updated sooner rather than later. This is why the Alienware Command Center isn't recognizing them. The problem literally started as soon as I redownloaded the command center app, which indicates that there's some kind of compatibility issue going on between them.

PS: I'm glad I'm not the only one suffering from this; it's eating away at the CPU and rendering games useless on a supposed gaming laptop, and I haven't been able to 'game' on this laptop since April.

All I can offer is troubleshooting.

On the 3 year old x17 R2, uninstall AWCC 6.9.15.0. Restart the x17 R2. Attempt to install AWCC 6.3.7.0. Restart the x17 R2 and retest.

@DELL-ChrisM2 The fact that this is clearly a problem that more than one user has shows that it is not something that can be trouble-shooted. And if it can, then Dell needs to acknowledge that it is an issue and they need to release a patch for this problem. I am not capable of playing games on a $3k gaming laptop.

same laptop same problems here .....

Exactly the same problem here, also X17 R2, constant error logs in Windows logs > Application, says:

"ESIF(1.0.11903.2253) TYPE: ERROR MODULE: IPF TIME 56848 ms

The Intel(R) Dynamic Tuning Technology (DTT) driver cannot load because the installed version of Intel(R) Innovation Platform Framework (IPF) that it depends on is too old.  IPF version installed is 1.0.11903.  The minimum IPF version required is 1.0.11904."

Can't find an updated IPF driver, reinstalling the driver from Dell Support website does not change anything.

It's almost like the program itself is faulty. Funny how neither dell nor intel will acknowledge it. Glad I'm not the only one with this issue though at least...
