Alienware x17 R1

Alienware x17 R1

I just bought the 2021 Alienware x17 R1. It gets 100 degree Celsius even when I am just using Spotify or Firefox?

Hi @heniz welcome to this free user to user Alienware laptop discussion forum. This is not Dell Support.

Alienware gaming laptops are designed to deliver high performance. Intel says CPU temperature can increase up to 100ºC (212ºF) maximum, but must not be higher. The x17 R1 idle temperature should be about 50ºC.

Placing x17 R1 on a flat surface (table, tray, etc.) and elevating rear clearance to improve air flow is advocated. Ensure that there are no air flow obstructions near to all vents. Only use x17 R1 when local ambient temperature is not excessive. There are various items that can assist to provide full air flow clearance. For power user, a tray that includes external cooling fans might be beneficial.

Hi @heniz ,

Go to power plans and set the laptop to power saving as your just browsing the internet.

Then go to AW command center and also set the power plan to power saving and also set the fan speed to full speed.

Then while your still in AW command center turn off any overclocks on the CPU and GPU and limit the speed to 4Ghz for the CPU.

After all that is done and applied and the laptop has cooled, switch the fan profile to cool.

The problem should be solved.

i am using HW monitor and the software doesn't measure temperature  if it is exceeding more than 100 ºC and i think it's more than 100 ºC

still it's not getting below 88 ºC, but i don't feel any heat coming out of the fan in fact it's even cooled and i think there is a problem with the thermal sensors

Hi @heniz ,

Try hard shutting off the laptop and then leave it in a cool dry place. Then after an hour or so take it out and turn on the laptop. Try testing the temperatures after to see if the sensors are still faulty.

If the temperature is reading it wrong and the laptop is cool then MAYBE the sensor is wrong, but I believe it's the app. Try installing SpeedFan and enable Dell laptop support to see what's the actual temp.

Hi @heniz the Enable DELL support option is available by clicking on Configure, and then the Options tab.
