x17 R1, how to enable G-Sync?
So...kind of a silly question, but how do you turn G-Sync on exactly on this x17 R1? I have the 165Hz 1080p panel.
The main reason why I'm asking is the option is missing from the Nvidia Control Panel, even if Advanced Optimus is turned off. Is there a magic hidden setting for this?

So apparently, I can't read! I double-checked the spec sheet and the 165Hz FHD panel in my x17 R1 does not support G-Sync. I must have misread something in the marketing materials. The only panel which supports Gsync in this laptop is the 360hz FHD panel. Case closed.

All,
* Open the online x17 R1 Setup and Specifications PDF
* Scroll down to, "Table 17. Display specifications"
* Look for "Adaptive sync support"

If your using advanced optimus in the Nvidia control panel under "manage display options", it should give you the choice to switch it to the nvidia GPU only. After clicking that and applying, when you go into the Nvidia Control panel there should be a whole new section of headings / choices for you to do like change resolution, colors, refresh rate, etc.
One of those headings should say "set up G sync" but these headings only appear if you are in dedicated GPU mode only.
If advanced optimus isn't working for whatever reason, you could always enter the BIOS and switch from integrated to dedicated graphics manually then go into the Nvidia Control panel and do the same steps I just mentioned above.

Thanks for your reply, but I stated in my original post, that disabling Optimus does not give me anything like "set up G sync", hence my question.
This is how NV Panel looks with Optimus turned ON:
And this is how it looks with Optimus turned OFF:
I manually browsed through each card and there is nothing like "Set up Gsync" available.

Are you turning on Dedicated GPU mode through the BIOS or are you doing so from the Nvidia Control Panel? My M15 R7 with advanced optimus has a tab/heading you are missing called "Manage Display Mode". This is where I have to click to use advanced optimus to switch between optimus or just using the dedicated GPU.
What are the screen specs that came with your X15? You should definitely see the "set up G sync" tab in the Nvidia control panel if you're in dedicated mode regardless if you're doing so through the mux switch (using the bios to switch to dedicated GPU) or advanced optimus. It makes me wonder if G sync is not supported or working on that panel properly for whatever reason. I would make sure all drivers are updated, especially the Nvidia one since that could be the issue.
I'll post the images of what my control panel looks like in both optimus/dGPU mode.

that's a shame since I think all Alienware screens for the newest models support G Sync regardless of which one you pick. I guess they decided to not include it on the previous version like yours for some screens.
Glad you at least solved the issue. If it makes you feel any better, my M15 R7 has G sync on the internal screen, but Dell decided to not have it be able to use a G sync external monitor via the Thunderbolt port, so I can't turn G sync on when using said new monitor I just bought.
All high end gaming laptops should come with G sync functionality in pretty much every way for the $ of these things in my opinion..
