x16 R1, cosmetic damage on keyboard lid area

I need help asap guys. I recently purchased an Alienware x16 R1 through a friend and it was shipped to me by friend carefully from the United States. I had just recently found the time to set it up as the holiday season in Asia had began when it arrived. I was heavily anticipating for this laptop for a very long time as to I will migrate both work and entertainment on this expensive device.

I had just set it up recently and have had a very hard time doing as i have been using an iPad and had to save up just to purchase this incredible laptop.

However, upon complete inspection I found out that a very small tiny part of my laptop that houses the keyboard near the speakers or fan are have a chipped paint that was shining. While all the while I thought it was just a dust.

I have been trying to contact thieir customer service but it is closed today!

Please help calm my mind that I do not have to accept this laptop on this kind of condition and that there is hope for this to resolved or a spare part that can be replaced?

This is so frustrating!

Bear in mind that the warranty applies only in the US, and only to the buyer -- meaning whoever ordered and had the system shipped to them originally.  There is a 30-day satisfaction guarantee, but it'll mean paying for shipping back to the US before replacement is rendered.

It's further unlikely that other than during the first 30 days from shipment, that Dell will repair a cosmetic defect.

Start by shipping the system back to your friend and arranging a replacement with Dell.

Also bear in mind that you will need to register the system with Dell to transfer a warranty internationally, and that any transfer requires that the same model be sold in your home country, and requires an extra-cost onsite service plan before the warranty will transfer.

A shiny speckle of chipped paint can be a sign of accidental damage.  It also be questionable for warranty.  Why not enjoy the new system performance instead of allowing a small imperfection to undo your effort and taking on a stressful time for unresolvable issue.

Who will bear the cost to return the laptop and the trouble your friend will go through for helping.  Soon or later, that machine will show sign of wear and tear.  Consider it was an early tear, but your friendship will stay whole if you don't burden your friend with a cosmetic issue.
