x14, processor died after 2 years
Not really a discussion, but as there is no compaints department I have to air my dissapointment with your product here. I've had my x14 for just a week over 2 years now and last night the processor failed (2 red, 1 blue). This is a hot running laptop so I purchased a cooling pad for gaming which done a great job of keeping the temp down a little after purchasing the laptop itself in a hope to preserve its life. This laptop was used in moderation and kept safe, yet just 2 years on and it dies. A replacement board would cost around £600 + labour so not really worth the expenditure to try and reclaim some of the loss. Therefore I just want you to know how deeply dissapointing it is to have spent £1500 for a laptop that lasts only 2 years. I was warned that Alienware had lost its reputaion since being taken over by Dell but did not listen. I will stear clear of Dell products and advise freinds on the same.
Regretfully yours,
Joe

Since these are made for Dell by either the largest or second largest notebook manufacturer in the world depending on the quarter of the year you're referencing, there's a good chance your next gaming notebook will be the same inside as the Alienware even if the name on the outside is ASUS, MSI, etc. Translation: buy your next system with a 3 or 4 year warranty -- however long you expect to use it. Gaming systems push the edge of performance at the expense of reliability (if you don't believe that, look at any number of repair shops' Youtube channels, which are rife with repairs on Alienware, MSI, ASUS, Aorus, Legend, Omen and every other gaming notebook make).
You may also want to try a true repair shop, which can likely repair the mainboard for half what you were quoted for replacing the board.
