M18x R2, Nvidia Quadro P3000 install help
hello guys! I have a 2012 Alienware M18x R2 with dual gtx 675m's and an i7-3920xm. I also have a Nvidia quadro P3000 that I've been trying to install into my system. I've watched some videos and realized that there may be some modding required in order to get these newer cards to work? I've been looking around the internet and I've found no posts whatsoever of anyone needing help with installing this card, but i've seen sellers putting these in their m17x r4's and m18x r2's. I tried inserting the card into my laptop and I got 8 beeps with no display. I didnt bother getting swicks bios because of the sign up process and posting stuff just to get the unlocked bios. So I tried downloading the maxwells unlocked bios and I got a compatibility issue saying that my 64 bit windows is not supported. What is there that I can do? Im currently running on iGFX mode at the moment. I appreciate your time and help if possible.
Note: I don't have the 120hz monitor.
specs:
i7-3920XM
32gb ram
256GB SSD
3 1TB HDD's (caddy)
dual nvidia gtx 675m's
Bios version: A14

nevermind I got it to work, I decided to use swicks modded bios instead. Unfortunately, you have to make an account and pay $6 for tier 1 membership in order to download the bios file. I just followed the instructions on how to properly install the bios after that. In regards to getting the graphics card to work, you need to set your display mode in the video settings in the bios to "SG" mode (theres multiple modes like iGFX, PEG, SG, PCi, etc). With the card installed, the computer recognized it as a display adapter and I restarted my laptop, activated driver signature enforcement disabled, prepared my .inf file, and began modding the drivers (theres a video on yt on how to do it). The modded driver works as i'm sitting at a cool 47 C on the gpu temp with the factory OEM 3 pipe heat sinks from my gtx 675m. So in the end, this has worked out well for me!

FYI, you can get all the old unlocked BIOS' for free from NotebookTalk.net. A bit late now though sorry.
Glad you got it sorted out.
