m18 R2, reconitioned parts, unavailable, no date?

Alienware m18 R2 less than 1 year old. Power button flashing red an blue for 2 weeks. Used to be 2 red, 8 blue, but now it's flashing so fast, I can't count them. Display won't come on, but external monitor works. Premium service plan. No one knows when parts will be available. Being forced to wait for reconditioned parts instead of Dell providing new parts. This is my 3rd Dell in a row, with purchased service plans. I never used the plans until now. This is my last Dell ever.

All warranty replacement parts are considered refurbished by all manufacturers.  If they cannot provide the parts to repair your system in a reasonable time frame, ask for a replacement system.  Yes, it will be refurbished - not brand new (that's also universal in the industry -- not just for PCs and notebooks, but for most products in general).  If the alternator fails in your Mercedes that's under warranty, you'll get a refurbished one as a replacement.

@ejn63 Thanks for the info. What would be considered a reasonable time frame?

To me, if they can't repair the system within 10 business days, it should be replaced.  I don't think there's a general rule unless you have onsite service or an upgraded warranty.

@ejn63 I believe I have the Premium service plan, which should include onsite.
