m18 R2, overheating
I bought top M18 R2. I want to ask if your M18 is also overheating? I got mine and it was bad from the beginning, 70C+ while idle. Playing games 90C+. After few minutes playing most of my cores reach 100C and dont know how much more (i am getting only 100 values). After 3-4 hours playing it stars freezing and i need to restart any game i play. It doesnt matter if i use cooling pad, temperatures are a bit better but it still goes up to 100 and maybe more. Body itself is extremely hot near the screen. Dell premium support exchanged my cooling, it didnt helped at all. My two friend have the same model and its not going so crazy hot as mine (tested on the same game, 3 different machines, only mine is BAD). What else can be wrong? Motherboard? Dell premium support said: "we cant do anything else, its normal temperature". Its not normal ;p

Yes, unfortunately they will say that 100deg is normal as it's within the manufacturers specifications. The system still shouldn't freeze though as it should throttle itself before getting to a point where hardware should start failing.
They may have done a poor pasting job when they replaced the heatsink assembly. If it were my machine I'd open it up and do a repaste but that isn't for everyone.
You can also look online to see if it's possible to undervolt your CPU. This has helped many people over the years to bring CPU temps down but some BIOS' won't allow it so you'd have to do some research.
Obviously, if you try any of this you do it at your own risk. If you are still covered by a Dell warranty then I would keep hassling them and give them as much information as possible. Check your Event Viewer and see if and faults were logged when the system freezes.

Mine gets that hot too, I have dealt with Dell Tech support and have come to the conclusion that when it dies then they can give me a new one; after all isn't that what they make extended warranties for?
Stay politely on Dell tech support and stand your ground until they honor the warranty.
