m18 R2, max SSD size PER 2280 slot?

I have an Alienware m18 R2 on order that should be here within a week or so.  It is replacing an older Alienware R5.  The R5 has a TON of storage space, including room for a 2.5" SSD and two 2280 m.2 slots.  Now, I do a lot of photography AND I like to keep my laptop in the same configuration as my desktop.  My desktop has a total of 18TB of SSD storage in it.  My question is, will the SSD slots (m.2 2280s) support up to 8TB SSDs or do they max out at 4TB.  The only thing I can find is the "official" word from Dell, which is what the max shipping configuration COULD be (2 x 4TB SSDs).  If someone has put one or more 8TB m.2 2280 SSDs in, I would love to hear about it.  I need more than the "official" 8TB of storage and would prefer not to cart an external drive around with me.  Thanks!
