m18 R1, mouse don't work

Alienware m18 R1 AMD

Alienware m18 R1 AMD

When I plugged my mouse into my new m18 laptop, I got a popup that said the mouse was old and wouldn't work. The mouse pointer was very laggy when I tried to move it around the screen. It was over 10 years old, so that's fair.

I bought a new Redragon m656 mouse, and it occasionally works, but oftentimes it goes into a "mode" where left clicks only register 30% of the time and the pointer freezes when I try to drag things. For example dragging a scrollbar or dragging across text to highlight the text both become impossible. Restarting the mouse/computer temporarily make the mouse work again, but oftentimes only briefly. Touchpad works fine. Only mice have issues. I have Windows 11 and believe my divers are up to date. Is this another compatibility error?

What mouse can I buy that is compatible with this laptop?

I have figured it out.

The messages that say the mice are incompatible with AWCC 6 don't really mean anything. It's just a marketing trick that made this issue much more confusing.

The actual issue was that the laptop was getting very hot in the back and overheating the USB receiver for the mice. It works fine with the receiver in a side USB port.
