m17 R5, went dark

Screen on the laptop went dark while hook through HDMI. Worked through HDMI. Then the nvidia card was disabled and now nothing displays. It boots fine and logs in with facial recognition. I disconnected the battery for a while. Still no video. If I replace the lcd will I be able to boot and re-enable the nvidia? What to do? Anyway to reset? Thanks.
