m17 R5, screen brightness controls not working

My brightness control is somehow "disabled". Pressing the F10 and F11 brightness is not working. It is not a keyboard issue because I'm also unable to change the brightness in the settings. Meaning the screen brightness does not change and is stuck on a dim look.
