m17 R5, audio mute key not working
Recently, I discovered that the audio mute key on my laptop isn't working. The button to mute the microphone is seemingly fine and glows white when pressed. However, the audio mute is unresponsive and gives no indication of muting when pressed but still glows white when the volume is manually lowered to zero. I don't think my keys are broken. Why is this? How can I fix it?

@DELL-Nat M I see the issue has been escalated and appreciate that. I've found this is affecting many more users than just those who post here. Please provide updates on a solution for this. Thank you.

Hi Guys, I have the same problem (Alienware m15 R7) I have reinstalled the BIOS from 1.8.0 to 1.20. In addition to using the 1.22.0 and 1.23.. I have changed the AWCC 5 and 6. I have also reinstalled all versions of the drivers. And I haven't been successful at this. I think it's a firmware or BIOS problem.

I have a mouse with programmable buttons, I assigned the mute command to one of them and it works.
The command therefore still functions normally but the key itself is as if "dead".. The problem comes from the impulse on the button which seems to be deactivated --> So firmware / Deep problem

Hi all,
The team is aware that this issue is affecting many users. They are currently working on a long-term fix.
For now, please use the mute on the taskbar (when tapped the volume mute button becomes white with an x next to the speaker).

Exact Same issue, very infuriating how the basic functions of a laptop can be affected from a support piece of software. Reported this also but apparently they are no reports of others having this happen.....

@DELL-Chris M When I look at the compatibility with my PC, I am told that the driver is not compatible. However, I have an m17 R5 as specified in the description. Is this normal?

If you have the Cherry keyboard, first install the 11/14/2022 Cherry keyboard firmware, restart when done. Then install the 2/20/2023 Universal keyboard firmware. Restart when done. Retest.
If you have the Per Key keyboard, first install the 11/14/2022 Per Key keyboard firmware, restart when done. Then install the 5/14/2024 Per Key keyboard firmware. estart when done. Retest.
