m17 R5, AMD heatsink material

Alienware m17 R5 AMD

Alienware m17 R5 AMD

Hey everyone! I wanna repaste my laptop with liquid metal but I have to know that heatsink material is copper or aluminum. As you know I can't apply Liquid metal on aluminum surface because liquid metal include gallium which may be absorbed by aluminium.

-I will use Kapton tape to protect circuits and apply a foam barrier like ps5 has. Is there any other point do I have to ?

-I want to extend my premium warranty. I'm wondering if I upgrade my thermal compound, will I still be able to extend my warranty?

Thanks everyone in advance!

I am not a fan of Liquid Metal as it can cause problems if it gets on the MB and it is only marginally better than thermal paste in reducing temperatures. This Web page at Digital Advisor has more information and pros and cons. I would also suggest that using it may affect your warranty as it is not a factory approved thermal compound.

Even if the heatsink appears to be copper on the outside, it's probably either aluminum or some aluminum alloy on the inside.

And if you apply liquid metal to the system, and then require warranty repairs, expect to be told the warranty is void -- in other words, if you're going to purchase a warranty extension, heed the other advice here and stick to conventional thermal compound, not liquid metal.
