m17 R4, RTX 3080 motherboard replacement cost?
Trying to repaste my CPU since it was idling around 80. When I opened the retaining clip holding in the power button ribbon cable, it caught on one of the pins, bent it up, and then broke it off. Warranty expired May 2022. I can't get the ribbon cable to make a good connection, but if I hold it in place, just so, it will make a connection and I get BIOS lights indicating a system board bad power rail.
Paying for an out of warranty diagnosis, but pretty sure the MOBO will need replaced. Any guesses what that is going to cost me? This is my work PC and I can't be without it, but if I can buy a working used one for the same price or less than the repair cost, I should do that probably.
So, to summarize, does any have a reasonable guess what this is going to cost me? They should be able to reuse my CPU and GPU since those were functioning just fine, right?
Thanks in advance for any replies.

*EDIT* Chatted and the support person said it will be about $258 + tax. It arrived at the factory today so I will have my answer soon enough.

Last question first: No, you won't be re-using either the CPU or the GPU since they're both soldered to the system board. The entire board, CPU and GPU is one assembly.
They're on EBay for the $1,200 range -- if you are going through Dell or a service shop, the price for the the board will be higher, and there will also be a labor charge, so you may well find it pushing $1,500 to replace a system board.
You may want to contact a true repair shop that may be able to solder in a replacement pin -- that would still run a few hundred dollars, but nothing like what a board replacement will cost.

That's what I'm afraid of. I'll keep you updated soon.

That looks nothing at all like mine. Mine is built into the system board and has no Alienware, it's just a generic brown cheap plastic port.

That quote was probably labor+shipping. The part(s) will be additional.

**EDIT OF EDIT**
Yep, sure enough - $250ish for the repair, thankfully! I feared it was going to cost thousands!

I just did the same thing. Was trying to repaste and tore off the mobo connector while trying to remove the board. How much did it actually cost to repair?

About $250 total, shockingly reasonable!
