m17 R?, won't turn on

My Alienware m17 turns on, then shuts off after a minute. I pulled the battery and plugged power adapter in and it won't turn on at all. So I reseated the battery and tried to turn on without power adapter and it won't turn on at all. I have tried letting it charge, then I go to diagnostic test started running test and it shut off. When it shuts off all lights go out for a bit then come back on. Anyone know what this could be, or what to try.
