m16 R2, restart to get the sound to work again

I have to restart laptop to get the sound to work again. Besides changing power management/sleep settings and reinstalling sound drivers/reboot, is there anything else I should look at or try?

Realtek onboard audio, Nvidia HD audio, Windows 11

Hi everyone,

Dell has demoted Realtek version 6.0.9738.1 from the support site. If you're experiencing issues with no audio on your Alienware m16 R2 laptop after updating the Realtek driver, please follow these steps to resolve the issue:

  1. Log in as an administrator.
  2. Download and install the current version 6.0.9667.1, A02 or later.

Please test it and let us know if this fixed the issue.

For individualized support, please click Get Help Now at the bottom right corner of this page.

Same exact problem. Put the laptop to sleep, wake it up... sound gone. Restart laptop... sound back! Super weird and VERY annoying

Could you provide the audio driver version of the Realtek high definition audio?  Also, can you provide a short video for us to review?

Ya I've also been having this same issue with my M16 R2 over the past few weeks. It seems to love to do it if no sound is playing while my ear buds are plugged in.

This same issue started happening with the same machine specs Alienware m16 R2. When I reisntalled the dell supplied drivers, the next restart saw my entire sound card disappear from Device Manager. They're just gone, even if I reveal hidden devices. The only sound that works is through bluetooth and HDMI. The microphone is unusable now as well. anything realtek is missing.

DELL!! Sounds like a few people are having issues with the same thing!!

I am using the Realtek-Audio-Driver_X52G3_WIN_6.0.1.8018_A02_01 which is what is recommended to me from the dell website (however the website also states it isn't the correct one). I am also having the same issues and have had to reinstall the driver on several occasions as even re starting stops working!

This seems to happen to me when switching between speakers and headphones (and vice versa) or locking / leaving the laptop. Definitely happens when switching between spartial and non spartial sound. When trying to watch videos it states Audio Renderer issue....

PLEASE look further into this! I am now off to re start my laptop again as the sound is currently not working.
