m16 R2, headset jack, no audio
I recently got myself an alienware m16 R2 laptop. I have a steel series arctis 3 wired gaming headset with a 4-pole headset connector. The documentation for the laptop says it's a "Universal Headset Jack" with no explanation of what that means. I can get audio out working through the headset, but if select headset in the realtek audio console the microphone doesn't work and the audio comes out all wonky. I would love to be able to use my headset with my new laptop, any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

You will need a USB to TRRS adapter. Universal headset jack = stereo plug.

Hi folks, I figure it makes sense to ask here as it's the same problem, but I'm checking if this option works. I'm a new owner of this laptop and plan to use it for work (live stream events and video editing). Can I use a splitter like this that will allow me to plug in both the microphone and headphones?

And if I wanted to plug speakers into the laptop, what are my options to plug in? Would it still be the headphone jack? Or do I use one of the Type C?
