m16 R1, power button flashes 2 red and 7 blue, NO black screen

Alienware m16 R1

Alienware m16 R1

Hello! When I turned on my m16 R1 today, I got a 2 red 7 blue flashing power button. I don't recall any very recent updates, just turned off my computer yesterday as usual.

Found this thread here about the same problem with the m15 R5 and there are many solutions that either worked or didn't, from "Download a Bridge Bios Update" to "Recover the laptop by resetting the Real Time Clock (RTC)", "Open the laptop and disconnect and reconnect the battery", "Replace the motherboard", "Download the Bios Driver from Dell's website"...

However all these solutions are based on the fact that the laptop had a black screen the whole time. I don't have a black screen at all. My screen is fine and even my Display Port is working normally producing image to a second screen.

I'm afraid to try any of these solutions since my screen is ok, it's just the red and blue lights. I'm also afraid to turn off my computer and get a black screen when I turn it on again.

What should I do? Any advice?
Thank you for your time!

Just to help out if anyone gets this same problem in the future: Backed up my files just in case, restarted the PC and the power button flashing code was gone. Lighted up normally with no further problems whatsoever. I suppose it was a temporary issue/bug. Don't know what could have been the cause though.

Click here for information on the power button codes.

To receive assistance from Dell chat support, they need to verify the warranty status and ownership. Then you must troubleshoot with them.  Click the "Get Help Now" icon on the right to start a live chat session. If already out of warranty, click here for the Dell out of warranty offering.
