m16 R1, melted 'DC in" cable
First thing I noticed was an AWFUL smell. Next the laptop would not recognize the AC power adapter wattage and the battery would not charge. After opening the back cover i noticed the connection was melted and the plastic was melted over the connector pins. I began troubleshooting thinking this may not be the cause of the issue and instead tried to diagnose a faulted power adapter. I used the same power adapter on another M16 R1 that I have and the laptop ran just fine. I thought it could be the battery but after putting in my spare, the error came back up. Please I need help, what are my next steps?

mine just did the same thing yesterday, I smelled that burning electronics smell. I took it apart today and the cable from the actual power cord to the motherboard melted at the motherboard. It looks like the pins may be ok on the mb. i ordered another inf16 cable. I'm praying for the best. the laptop is running fine on the battery. Pretty unhappy about this, I've never used anything but the original power supply.

@Ian.M dude my cable was melted, exposed the female pins on the cable, AND the mobo connection was melted. I contacted support and get this, they first denied my claim THEN AFTERWARDS asked for pictures of the damages. Total mafia, told me no before even seeing the damages. I ended up taking it to a pc repair shop, and the technician fixed it for 200, good luck!
