m15 R7, Slot 2 dell oem 256gb SSD dissappearing

I have the 512 GB SSD (2 x 256 GB SSD 2230 4.0) option for my m15 r7 laptop. The slot two SSD disappears after about 10 minutes of use. I have seen forums to change from raid to AHCI configuration. I am not sure if this will work, but I might try it. I am also running some programs from the slot to SSD. I have also read online that you should only run programs from slot one including games. Any suggestions on what to do? I might also upgrade the 256gb boot drive in slot 1 to something bigger.  Any advice on copying the boot drive to a bigger ssd? I’ve never done this.
