m15 R1, electrical shorting/zapping sound followed by fan spinup

I started having a strange problem with my out of warranty laptop. When I open it in the morning after a cold night, after 2 minutes of use I start hearing electrical shorting/sparking followed by the left fan spinning (cpu fan). If it's continuous the fan spins to max, this would happen for a few minutes then it would never happen throughout the day. I cleaned the top part of the motherboard with isopropyl alcohol after this started happening and changed the thermal paste, unplugged the fans and cleaned their ports but it still happens. There is no moisture in the air or in the room and it likely doesn't have anything to do with condensation

Today it happened at night and it was extreme, the fan was spinning to max for 5 minutes straight then going off for a few seconds then on again. Worth noting that I was using the pc for gpu intesitive tasks before that but the cpu was at 40% and under 70c. I am sure my temps are in the 60c while it spins to max and when I change the fan mode to quiet nothing happens, it stays at 100% as if awcc couldn't control it. What could be the problem?
