Dell Tech Support is completely useless

Three times now in the past five weeks I have spent hours on the phone with tech support and three times now I have sent my laptop for repairs. Each time I have opened my allegedly repaired laptop to an error message and the laptop is not, in fact repaired....

This morning once again I am looking at a three and a half year old, $6,500 paperweight. The first thing I saw was "Your computer encountered a problem and has to shut down."

Nobody seems to care. I can spend another two hours on the phone with barely-trained tech people but what's the point? Nobody cares and anyway they don't have the technical skills to repair my laptop.

No idea what to do next. I can't work on a tablet.

One thing I do know: I won't be buying another Alienware laptop.

This is so sad to read here, I would be very angry as well. If I'm reading your post correctly, you sent computer to Dell Technical Support three times and Dell send repair computer back to you three times, each time, you open box, power on computer, error message appears on screen? You sure this Dell or another computer shop?

What repairs supposedly have been done by Dell? They replace motherboard or another piece of hardware inside the computer? Reinstall windows?

First it was an issue with the battery always charging even when the computer was plugged in and overheating even when it was idle.

The first time it was returned, nothing had changed. The problems persisted. I actually suspect no work was done on it. After a long talk with a tech I sent it back.

It was returned with a new USB port and a AC power adaptor and something was replaced for the overheating, the report only gave a part number for that.

I was still getting errors and then the laptop crashed and would not even load when I tried to turn it on. It was suggested by the tech on the phone that it might need a new motherboard.

This time the report does not say what was done. It actually does not say anything. I have no idea what work was done. Ridiculous. However, there has obviously been a new Windows install or full reset as there is nothing on the computer.  It was actually left on when they sent it back to me, because when I opened it this morning, it opened to an error message saying that the computer encountered an error and had to shut down. This repeated three times. Finally it loaded Windows and did an update. Seems okay, but last time I got it back it worked for a few days before crashing again.

To add to this, yes, of course it was Dell, not someone else.

When I bought mt first Alienware laptop12 years ago, Dell's tech and customer service was second to none. I was thinking about getting an Area 51 desktop but given my experience with this laptop I'm having second thoughts.

And this mrning when I turned on the computer there was an error message and the computer had to shut itself down.

DELL TECHNICAL SUPPORT IS UTTERLY USELESS.

Three times, I've sent my Alienware laptop back to Dell for repairs, and three times it has come back still having problems.

At this point I have to conclude that Dell doesn't care enough about its customers to hire competent tech support staff.

Am I going to buy that top-of the-line Area 51 desktop as my next computer purchase?  Decidedly not.

Dell needs to up its game if it wants to retain its reputation as an industry leader.

And clearly Dell doesn't care because nobody got back to me after this auto-response.

I have spent many, many hours on the phone with Dell technicians.  My laptop has been sent back to Dell for repairs three times over the last few weeks.

Twice, the technical staff shipped it back to me without turning it off, and when I opened it, an error message was showing clearly on the screen.  Dell technical repairs sent it back with an error message showing on the screen.  Twice.  Think about that.

Windows has been reinstalled twice.

And it still isn't fixed.

Now I am expected to give up yet another afternoon talking to a nice technician who will not be able to resolve the issues.

This is a joke.  Dell can't be expected to sell people expensive gaming computers and then treat them this way.

And now, whenever I try to start a game on this GAMING laptop, I get a flashing four red, one blue code.

Love the way I'm getting responses on this thread.

SO, here we are again, with Dell Technical Support having installed a new SSD, but the problems persist.  Four red, one blue flashing on the Start button.

I go online and find  all sorts of information about this, but Dell's technicians don't even know about it!  And so they ignore it instead of looking into it.

And so the problems persist -- the computer overheating and using 100% battery even when idle.

Until a Dell technician acknowledges this issue and does something about it, my $6,500 laptop will be non-functional

I see that once again, my post here  about the same subject has been removed.  Not good.  Not good at all.

And STILL, I'm being ignored both here and at Dell's Technical Support.

I have a $6,500 gaming laptop that can only handle email and online browsing.
