Dell - laptop repair almost none
Yesterday I received my new AllienWare laptop. The deliver was late, from original order. Main reason I chose this Dell Device was it would arrive prior to the Start of the Class I am Teaching at a local School.
I have pushed Dell for years, now rethinking.
Perhaps in Hindsight I should have taken other option I had was HP from Best Buy.
I started setting up the laptop all went as expected with Windows 11 setup. Installed couple applications. Then got called away to tend to some other family issues. I came back to laptop saw it appeared to be doing an automatic update of BIOS (I think) – So I let it continue until it finished.
When the laptop tried to re-boot, I got error message (see image 1 below.) I tried to go to Dell support. Followed the system entered the service tag number and it did not find it. My guess is the service tag data base did not have the machine in it yet.
I contacted the sales department via chat. They sent me to service department. They did give me 1-800 number – turns out to be a stupid computer no service tag it does nothing.
The trick she used to get around the computer say “service” over and over until the computer craps out. Ha Ha Ha.
Now to top all that off. My Daughter got past the Stupid Computer. Finaly got to a person. After 30 minuets or so Service Rep. gave us a Case number 21501####, The Service Rep. on the phone, final said the unit shows delivered but not Billed yet. She said it takes up to 48 hours to show the Express Service Code or Service tag number in the system.
So effectively she is saying –
the product being broken – we can’t start to resolve the problem for Business 2-3 days”.
Yep, should have chosen that HP at BEST BUY.
What’s interesting is my brother in Tulsa bought new unit few months ago – he tells me that he got the same error message on his unit.

You have 30 days to return an unsatisfactory system to Dell for a refund (from the shipping date).

Hi
Perhaps you actually caused the problem???
The coupla applications you installed don't work correctly?
The internet reports............
A failed DELL Alienware with the "nipcibrd.sys failed" error on Windows 11 typically relates to the National Instruments PCI Bridge Driver, often triggered by incompatibilities with certain National Instruments software (like LabVIEW, NI-VISA, or FRC Game Tools).
This BSOD can result from virtualization features, recent driver installs, or system updates.
Step-by-Step Fix
1. Enter Safe Mode
Restart the PC several times to enter the Recovery Environment.
Choose "Advanced Options" → "Startup Settings" → "Restart."
Select "Enable Safe Mode with Networking."
2. If Possible, Update or Remove NI Software
From Safe Mode, try to uninstall National Instruments software (such as NI-VISA, LabVIEW, or associated drivers).
Use "Apps & Features" in Settings or run uninstallers from C:\Program Files or C:\ProgramData.
3. Update National Instruments Drivers
If National Instruments software is required, upgrade to the latest version (e.g., PXI Platform Services 2023 Q4 or newer). Older versions are known to cause these compatibility issues.
4. BIOS Settings: Disable Virtualization (Temporary)
Enter BIOS/UEFI during boot (common keys: F2, Del).
Disable "Intel Virtualization Technology" (VT/VT-d) and "Single Root I/O Virtualization" (SR-IOV).
Save changes and restart. Note: This workaround is not ideal as it disables VM features you may need, and re-enabling can trigger BitLocker recovery if enabled.
5. Restore or Clean Install
If unable to recover, restore from a system restore point (if set) or use Windows Reset/Recovery features.
As a last resort, perform a clean Windows install. This should only be done after all data is backed up or as a final measure.
6. Dell System Updates
Update the Alienware's BIOS, storage firmware, and all system drivers using Dell SupportAssist or the Dell website. Sometimes, underlying firmware or compatibility fixes address driver-level BSODs.
Additional Tips
Avoid installing untested versions of NI software on newer hardware until compatibility is confirmed.
Report persistent issues to both Dell and National Instruments for ongoing support and updated drivers.

@mot9112 have you managed to solve the issue yet? If not then I have a contact at AW that would like to know more about what's going on.
Besides the BSOD problem, that Service Tag issue you had shouldn't happen.
Have you tried what anna suggested below? If it's a third party software incompatibility issue then it's not the fault of Dell/Alienware.

I did a full factory reset. I would assume if it was a NI software issue full reset would wipe it out. Any way after the full reset of W11 i continue to get same problem with no software installed. I am lost at this point. Tried to start help with the Chat with the Dell Techs. Got dropped. So i gave up. Going to send it back to Dell support group to fix it. Got the return Mailer box this afternoon. One interesting thing is my brother in Tulsa ha AW desk top machine, new a month ago. He ended up having to return it to Dell, they change the Intel CPU to fix his problem Same exact Error message. This is my first Dell AW machine I was super impressed how fast it installed the software. perhaps 4 times faster than i expected. I will post results after Dell returns it. New tech can drive a person nuts ( one must try to understand how complex a laptop is.)

@mot9112 Yes, it should have gone away if you did a full reset without any third party software. My AW contact would like to know more about your system and the roadblocks you may have had with support. Feel free to DM me with some details, just not your Service Tag. Only give this to a Dell support rep.

I did send my laptop back for repair. sent it via FedEx Monday, crazy nuts it was back Wednesday. Booted as expected windows11, installed several packages even python, no problems. reinstalled National Instruments Multisim application, no problem.
My "guess", issue i had was BIOS update had a problem.... one of them black magic things we never know real answer. Over all 5-10 hours on AW laptop i am very happy, Dell repair guys need a bonus in their check, hope some one in front office reads this.

@mot9112 Well that's a good result. I'm glad that it all worked out for you in the end.
