Aurora 16X 2025, does not charge via the Thunderbolt 4 port

My Alienware Aurora 16X 2025 does not charge via the Thunderbolt 4 port with any Power Delivery Charger! Please Help.

I have a 120w and a 60w Power Delivery chargers with me, but my laptop charges only with the AC charger provided.

I don't want to carry the bulky charger everywhere to college.

Kindly help ASAP.

Thanks.

You need the OEM AC adapter- - 180W or 280 W depending on the system configuration.  The system does not charge over Thunderbolt.

@MahPat

We can see from the online 16X Aurora AC16251 Owner's Manual page 13 that charging must be done through the rear power port. Charging via Thunderbolt is never discussed =

We can also see from the online 16X Aurora AC16251 Parts & Upgrades page that Dell did not provide Thunderbolt charger. Dell only provided the 7.4mm AC Adapter.

Re:  I don't want to carry the bulky charger everywhere to college.

For the ease of carrying things around, you may consider to carry 13" - 14" laptop or 2-in-1 for college.  Otherwise, you will need 180w power adapter that can support operating 16" wide quad extended graphics array with dedicated NVIDIA GeForce RTX graphics and charging the battery simultaneously.

Test your charger again as your 120w charger can be used for charging the battery while the Alienware Aurora is power off.

Seems like a trade off, to carry a large gaming laptop around campuses you will also need to carry its OEM charger.
